December 2023
Hey there, friends,
A couple of months ago, during a coaching session, my coachee and I were discussing the perils of creative constipation. No, we didn’t call it that, but upon further examination of her avoidance and frustration with a project, I commented, “It sounds like constipation.”
She agreed.
We laughed.
Then knowing I’m an avid crocheter, she jested, “You should crochet me some poop.”
You’d be surprised at how many poop emoji crochet patterns can be found online. So, I downloaded the pattern, whipped up the poop, stuffed it, and mailed it to her.
But it didn’t stop there! As you can see, I got a little carried away. I crocheted big poop, little poop, dark poop, and variegated poop!
The truth is we all suffer from constipation (both literally and figuratively). We hit slumps. We suffer from mental and physical dehydration. Nothing seems to give!
Whether or not you consider yourself a creative, there are times when you can’t seem to find your groove. These cute, squishy little guys are a friendly reminder that some days are hard and stinky and not much fun. So, for everyone near and dear to my heart, they’re getting poop for Christmas to remind them that constipation (creative or otherwise) isn’t permanent!
Merry Christmas!
BONUS CHAPTER OF DAWES’ FAMILY CHRISTMAS (SPOILER ALERT)
Of all my male characters, Liam Patrick Dawes from Sweet Caroline, DAWES: A Companion of Sweet Caroline, and MIZHIR is my favorite. Sorry, if you don’t think I should pick favorites, but I do.
From the beginning, his voice has been strong, and his heart is big. After completing his story, I couldn’t stop imagining what Christmas might be like with his family, so I wrote this brief glimpse into his family’s first Christmas.
If you haven’t already read DAWES: A Companion of Sweet Caroline or any of the other books in the Sweet Caroline Series, you might want to read those before you download the bonus chapter HERE.

If you are curious about or interested in writing, then I encourage you to pursue the craft.

Nearly every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I listen to A Christmas Carol narrated by Jim Dale. If you don’t know who that is, he’s the narrator of the Harry Potter Series (US Version). His rendition of Charles Dickens’s characters is endearing and calls my heart each time. I encourage you to indulge yourself by reading or listening to one of your Christmas favorites this year.
